Via Harrington Street Gallery; “Harrington Street Gallery is your local Artists’ co-operative. We have been exhibiting paintings continuously since 1973, firstly in Sydney’s Rocks area and since 1986 at 17 Meagher Street Chippendale.

“The idea of establishing a registered Artists’ co-operative was the inspiration of the Artist John Ogburn. He recognized the need for a Gallery which would assist both developing and established Artists to exhibit their best work without having to satisfy commercial constraints. To further guard our freedom to exhibit the best, we have never sought or received Government grants

“In the current Art climate of Conceptual Art, Digital Imagery, Performance Art etc, there is very little serious attention given to Painting…the wonderful experience of actual paint and actual canvas brought to life.  More broadly, it is something which we hope will find again an audience amongst those who have become lost and disorientated in a mediated world, and who crave reconnection with the beautiful physical world around them”

Developing and showcasing works collectively via numerous Artists long associated with Harrington Street Gallery, the ‘Intimacy and Alienation’ exhibition, originally scheduled to open the Gallery’s 2020 run, was postponed to September and then again postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic; opening Harrington Street’s 2021 run

Via Harrington Street Gallery; “Intimacy might be those experiences or situations of personal connection with the world or other people, where we feel ‘in the world’, ‘part of the world.’ Alienation might be those experiences or situations of personal disconnection with the world or other people, where we feel excluded, outsiders, isolated, insecure, where there is a gulf between us and the world, between us and other people”
